I am beyond excited to announce the release of my 22nd album, Luminous!!
Kathy Parsons at MainlyPiano.com says:
"With Luminous, her 22nd album, pianist/composer Michele McLaughlin reveals a softer and more delicate side to her playing and composing styles. There is a poignance in several of the pieces, but, overall, the album is an expression of contentment and peacefulness that is both contagious and satisfying. It's definitely one of her best yet!"
Steve Sheppard at One World Music says:
"Luminous by Michele McLaughlin in my view, is the best work of the artist thus far, I don’t say that lightly, as she has produced some amazing albums over the last 20 odd years, but for me she has manifested a sensitivity here that is beyond all that she has created before, and it has worked like absolute magic. Luminous is one of the most gentle and soothing narratives ever from Michele and is an album that every lover of any piano genre must simply have."
ABOUT THIS ALBUM:
This is a special edition album written and created using a softer and more delicate playing style by utilizing some of the more expressive features of my piano in order to change the tone and timbre of the sound and to illuminate the more expressive aspects of how it can be played. In doing so, I was able to immerse myself into a softer and quieter style of writing to compliment the changing elements of my beautiful piano. The music on this album is themed around different aspects of light and dark.
ABOUT THE MUSIC:
1. Droplets of Gray
Curled up in a comfortable chair, drinking a nice hot cup of tea, snuggled in blankets, watching rain falling outside. This is a very “rainy day” kind of a song for me.
2. When You Hurt, I Hurt
A friend of mine was going through a hard time and I felt very emotionally connected to the darkness they were feeling. I went to the piano and improvised a song for them to express the feeling of sadness I was experiencing for their struggle.
3. Kaleidoscope
I love kaleidoscopes, and how the colors and shapes constantly change with unpredictability while the light glows behind.
4. Shimmer
The quiet moments in life, when I have the space and time to just be still, where I can reflect and contemplate my personal journey, and be truly grateful for how beautiful this life can actually be… those are the moments that shine for me the most.
5. Moonlit Shadows
I love the ever changing phases of the moon, especially when the moon is full and the moonlight is casting a soft glow and creating shadows among the trees and bushes.
6. The Golden Hour
One of my favorite times of day, when the light outside is a beautiful golden yellow. This particular lighting makes me feel peaceful and happy.
7. Luminous
This portrays the feeling of being alive and joyful, happy and content in life. Every time I live in gratitude, I feel luminous.
8. Fireflies
I love to watch fireflies hovering and dancing in the air, glowing and illuminating in the darkness. It’s magical.
9. Adrift
I went through a period of time where I felt very lost, musically, and this song portrays that darkness. My lack of creativity during that time made me feel like my entire life was adrift.
10. Lanterns In The Sky
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced is the Lantern Festival, where thousands of people light paper lanterns and release them into the sky all at the same time. Standing quietly, peacefully watching them slowly float up and away into the darkness of the night.

ABOUT THE ALBUM ARTWORK:
I would like to give special credit to the incredible artist of the "Fire Flower" on the front album cover. I found her work while looking for the perfect image for this album and reached out to ask if I could use her art. She was gracious and giving and approved for me to use what I think is the perfect image for this album. She has a lot of really fantastic art and I highly encourage you to check it out! Thank you Kati Dobor at Coloradore!! You created the most truly amazing art for my album and I am beyond thrilled to be able to share it.

Hi Michele! I just wanted to send my love and gratitude for you and your beautiful musical creations. I discovered you on Pandora about 8 years ago and have so enjoyed listening to your journey. Thank you for being you and for sharing yourself with the rest of us! Hugs!!

Merci Michelle, I believe I am part of the only French McLaughlin (New Brunswick, Canada) family due to my grandmother origins. We are also very English due to my grandfather origins. We are very big in music… I am the exception LOL. My cousin, Casey LeBlanc, finished 5th at the 2005 Canadian Idol. We are very proud of her.
I am very proud to know about another successful McLaughlin. I keep sharing your stuff on FB and emails to friends and family. May your success equals your involvement and beyond. ;) Kisses.

Can’t wait! I love your music! I’ve been listening to it for 9 years, ever since I stumbled across it on my Pandora station when I was looking for beautiful music for my first pregnancy. I praise God for your amazing creativity.

Dear Michele,
I really can’t wait to listen to your new album.
For me music is behind love the best opportunity to express feelings and emotions.
When reading your explanations for your new album and listening to the few songs already available, I am convinced you do feel the same.
Waiting for end of November,
Sebastian
P.S.: The album artwork is absolutely impressive and it’s probably the best artwork of any of your albums.
